Pianos in Berlin

Last Wednesday, Helena and I discovered a random piano in the middle of the amphitheatre in Mauerpark.
Only the black keys made sounds, the white ones were fully sprayed and couldn't be played.
It looked really cool there, but everyone was wondering: why would people place a piano right there?
Then, at the weekend, there was an article in the papers about this topic; it said that this piano was part of the "StreetPiano" campaign promoting the "ModernSoloPiano"-Festival where young pianists have the opportunity to show their talent. It's on from August 18 until 21 at cinema Babylon near Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. But the piano in Mauerpark is not the only one: Altogether, there are 6 pianos throughout Berlin: at Breitscheidplatz/Kurfürstendamm/the town halls in Wedding and Tiergarten/Tempelhofer Park and Mauerpark. All pianos have been donated by the piano producer Goeke&Farenholtz and the piano transporter KM-Express. The one in Mauerpark is probably the nicest since Street-Art-Artists have worked on it. After the festival, the pianos will be on sale. 3 of 6 have already been sold.

What a great idea to promote the festival! It really does arouse curiosity.
There's just always something going on in Berlin :)

Niklas invited me over to David's for a barbecue in the evening; I would have loved to go but unfortunately he lives in Brandenburg... that's a little too far for me :( I was really happy about the invite though. Really nice of them.
